Zirconia Oxygen Analyzer

The zirconia oxygen analyzer is suitable for measurements of ppm to % levels of oxygen in a gas or mixture of gases. The zirconia cell is an electrochemical galvanic cell employing a high temperature ceramic sensor containing stabilized zirconium oxide. Within an instrument the zirconia cell is mounted in a temperature controlled furnace with the necessary electronics to process the signal from the detection cell. Typically measurements are displayed directly via a digital display as oxygen concentration over the range 0.01ppm to 100%.

A thermal conductivity measurement of a sample gas is a popular method of determining the gas concentrations of binary mixtures, but current, traditional katharometer technologies not only measure the thermal conductivity, but also the thermal mass of the gas, thus causing distortion to the measurement. Paramagnetic Oxygen Analyzer

Oxygen is a paramagnetic gas and is attracted into a strong magnetic field. Because this measurement is a purely physical effect, nothing is consumed and in principle the cell has an unlimited life. However, contamination of the cell by dust, dirt, corrosives or solvents can lead to deterioration. Measurement range is typically 0.05% to 100% O2.
